We all know October comes around very quickly and before you know it, it’s Halloween. I am very lazy when it comes to holiday themes. A last minute type of girl but it’s halfway through the month and I’m getting that Halloween feeling. So how did it happen?
I look after my friends little one, once a week and she does the same for me. This time I decided to leave the house and go on an adventure with two little ones. We first made it to the shop to get some bread for the “Carrot Hot Dogs” that I made. This is the trick for getting into the Halloween spirit fast. Enter a shop in the month of October. The decorations will be up enticing you to join the festivities.
Whats the one thing that can get everybody knowing its October. PUMPKINS. They were there, in the box for 50p each. I couldn’t resist it. I got two little pumpkins for two little ones. This was a great activity to pass the time.
Once we got back to the house, we had some Carrot dogs for lunch and then got to work. First, I cut the lid off of each one and provided a spoon and a bowl so they could get the pips out. I know I will still be finding pips later this month as getting two 2 yr olds to be neat and tidy is extremely hard. Once we exhausted that part of the step.
At this age, they are usually capable of drawing a circle. (Just about) I got them to draw 2 circles for the eyes and a circle for the mouth. The fun for them is getting to do it themselves. Once they made the faces, I used a knife to cut out there face that they drew. They seemed very pleased.
Next, it was the painting. I got each once a tub of paint to paint where ever they wanted. It is so amazing how little ones enjoy painting so much. I had some glitter from a birthday present that I thought would be great to use now. Each one got a little tub of glitter to sprinkle on the wet paint.
This really finishes the pumpkins off. They looked amazing and I felt very much in the Halloween spirit.
So get a pumpkin and begin the Halloween spirit. Do it!
