I have chosen, as my maternity ring, for it to be an opal breastmilk ring. Nikki from Tree of Opals will be using my breastmilk to create a perfect opal to be set in the ring that she taught and guided me to make. Making this ring is very special to me as I never thought I would be breastfeeding for so long. My little one is now almost 16months, and we are enjoying our breastfeeding journey.

Nikki helped and guided me, so I could make the ring by myself. I also learned so much about jewellery making in the process. Measuring for a ring, cutting and filing, soldering and other techniques. I really feel like this ring is completely mine.


I now have to wait a couple months for the breastmilk opal to be made and then it can be inserted into the ring that I have made. I cannot wait to see the ring in the end. When my journey of breastfeeding is over, I will always have this ring to remind me of such a special time.

Nikki will soon be moving into her new studio, which will be so exciting. As well as breastmilk items, she also makes other sentimental Jewellery such as umbilical cord, hair, fur, bridal. The most sentimental of all is the jewellery that she makes from cremation ashes of loved ones. What a way to treasure your memories to carry with you always.
